Effective natural deodorant stick
Sensitive and Stink-Free
I’m one of those sensitive people who can’t use most products sold at drugstores because chemical fragrances, and other chemical ingredients, give me rashes or asthma or both. I also have really smelly pits. Finding a deodorant that works for me is challenging.
I tested Ursa Major’s unscented Base Layer Deodorant for about three weeks, and was impressed with how well it neutralized my underarm odor. The white stick glides on very easily, and it’s stink-fighting formula works for hours. Unlike other deodorants I’ve tired, the Base Layer Deodorant also left my pits feeling smooth and soft not dried out or scaly. Another bonus: I didn’t notice white streaks on my dark clothes.
Underarm Alchemy
According to Ursa Major website, the key ingredients in their Base Layer Deodorant are: hops, which neutralize odor; aloe, which has soothing and hydrating properties; saccharomyces ferment, a probiotic enzyme that fights odor; and Matricaria (German Chamomile) and shea butter; which are both soothing, with the shea butter adding moisturizing.
The formula is unscented, and I didn’t notice any type of smell or scent when wearing the deodorant. I applied the Base Layer Deodorant at the start of my day, sometimes on clean pits after a shower and sometimes on already sticky pits because I didn’t have time for a shower. In both cases, the Base Layer Deodorant passed the sniff tests with flying colors. Every hour or so I raised my arm and took a big whiff, and time after time, I came up with nothing. No fragrance and no stink.
It says a lot about the Base Layer Deodorant’s effectiveness that I have used it and forgotten about it. I don’t usually wear sleeveless tops because I’m worried about my pits stinking, but the past few weeks I have been wearing tank tops every day because I feel confident that my stink has been neutralized.
Ursa Major makes three other types of deodorant with natural scenets, including: Hoppin’ Fresh (with baking soda and eucalyptus) and Forest Fix (with Fir & Sandalwood scent), both stick deodorants, as well as Sublime Sage Spray Deodorant (with geranium, lemon myrtle, sage, and sandalwood). I’m not sure what all of the ingredients are in terms of being “natural,” but I have a list of what is NOT in the Base Layer Deodorant, and it’s a good list: aluminum, baking soda, petrochemicals, paragons, glycols, silicones, synthetic fragrance, synthetic color, SLS, SLES, or PEGs. The product is made in the USA and not tested on animals.
The 2.6 oz size is ideal because it will last a long time, and it’s still TSA-friendly.
Bottom Line
I am pretty happy to have found a natural body care product that works with my sensitive skin and gives me strong odor protection in a moisturizing, easy-to-apply stick.
