Sockwell Men’s Foothold II | Moderate Graduated Compression Crew Socks

Light compression socks for daily wear and travel.

Fit & Function

I have a few different sock modes, depending on my footwear and activity (or lack thereof). After a swim in the 45o F lake, I need thick, fluffy, wool socks. For daily wear and travel, I often prefer thin socks, especially if they are Sockwell’s Men’s Foothold II compression socks.

Good For Beginners

Over time I’ve become a big fan of compression socks. I like how they feel on my feet and lower legs, and I really like how they can reduce that puffiness I get from long flights.  Compression socks are advertised as tools for improving circulation and enhancing recovery after sports. I have no way of proving those claims, but I can say that I like wearing the Men’s Foothold II socks.

The crew-style socks have a moderate compression designation. They fit snugly but don’t feel binding or constricting. I can’t say that I can feel the graduated compression, but what I do notice is a generally more comfortable sock than I expected. I have worn compression socks in the past that made my lower legs feel like sausages. This sock is so different. It’s like my regular crew socks but thinner and more supportive.

I’m a writer, so I spend too much time in a chair. Wearing Sockwell’s Men’s Foothold II sock makes me feel like I’m taking care of myself just a little bit. After wearing firmer compression socks, I think the moderate compression is quite subtle. I found it easy to put on and remove the socks. The lower compression level and crew style make Sockwell’s Men’s Foothold II sock a good choice for people who have never worn compression socks but are interested in trying them.

Stays In Place

I’m happy with Sockwell’s Men’s Foothold II sock because it stays in place and never slips. I like the wide ribbing around the top of the sock that grips my leg. My daily wear shoes have less room inside than my clunky outdoor shoes, so I appreciate having socks that don’t move or bunch.

I also appreciate the seamless toe area that prevents chafing and the defined heel cup that helps my foot fit into the sock. The sock has an extra-light cushioning, but it is so light that I didn’t feel any cushioning. It’s a thin sock.
