Haglöfs’ Heron Jacket

I’ve been wearing Haglöfs’ Heron Jacket for weeks as a top layer while exercising in cold weather, and benefiting from is excellent moisture management fabric. It’s been a perfect jacket for me.

Eco Fabric that Fits

Made out of recycled polyester microfleece with “4-way stretch” and flat seams throughout, the Heron jacket is both form-fitting and allows me freedom of movement. No binding or pulling. I was surprised that I found a good fit because with my extra long torso and height, not to mention my large chest, most women’s jackets are too tight and too short for me. Not the Heron Jacket.

Haglöfs’ Heron Jacket is well made and stylish, with such thoughtful details as a protective layer of fabric beneath the main zipper, a garage for the zipper, and an elasticized hood (no need for pull ties). The raglan sleeve design is, in my opinion, the best way to make a top or jacket. The style allows a custom fit around the shoulders and removes seams from areas that could be irritated by layering or wearing a backpack.

Giant Pockets

I love the giant front zippered pockets. They are made out of ultra lightweight mesh fabric and large enough to hold my phone, my wallet, my inhaler, and my gloves (I often end up removing my gloves during a workout and cramming them into my pockets.) I also appreciate the four-inch tall collar. When fully zipped, the jacket provides full neck protection.

Soft and Seriously High Performance

The Heron Jacket’s recycled polyester fabric performed far beyond my expectations. Soft and smooth on the outside, ultra fleecy soft on the inside, it has one of the best moisture transfers I’ve ever experienced in a jacket. I have worn the Heron Jacket for many power walks and hikes in temperatures ranging from just under 50 degrees F down to freezing, and every time I stayed comfortable and the jacket stayed dry. I didn’t always remember to wear wicking base layers so my skin was sometimes covered with perspiration, but the inside of the jacket was completely dry every time. Even after outings in drizzly weather, the inside of the jacket remained dry. I’ve never worn a jacket that pulled moisture off of me and pushed it out through the fabric with such efficiency.

Bottom Line: Truly one of the best wicking jackets I’ve ever tested. This is an ideal jacket for active women who want to stay warm and dry without overheating while exercising in cold temperatures. I love this cozy, lightweight, high-performing jacket.
