Super cushy stable hightop sneakers for kicking around, long walks, and looking fabulous.
I’ve never been a fan of cushiony shoes because I need stability. Now, thanks to Deckers X Lab’s design wizardry, I can wear fun, fashionable shoes that miraculously combine cloud-like cushion with a stable ride.
Town to Trail Versatility
I’ve been wearing the Deckers X Lab X-Scape Mid shoes (available in men’s and women’s sizes) every day for weeks. I wear them all day, all night, and even for my hour-long hikes on urban trails and power walks on paved and gravel roads. I have never done that with a shoe; I always change into exercise or hiking footwear for walks. Not anymore. These shoes are so comfortable, and they fit my wide foot so well, that I never want to change shoes. They even accommodate my thick full-length orthotic.
I can’t think of any other shoes or boots I have that I can wear for so many occasions and on so many terrains. My walking buddy and I got caught in the rain last week, and despite an hour in the rain, my feet stayed dry. Pretty nice for water-resistant shoes. I’m also not above saying that I whenever I wear my Deckers X Lab’s X-Scape Mid shoes people notice. I get lots of compliments and questions.
The X-Scape Mid is a combination of old-school chunky sneaker with some space-age urban style. Somehow they look very comfortable and very cool at the same time. It’s so nice to be able to wear fashion footwear after a lifetime of mostly orthopedic-style shoes!
Designed for Action
The Deckers X Lab X-Scape Mid has a lightly treaded but still grippy Vibram sole made out of 90% natural materials. The midsole is thick and crazy comfortable, made out of a “rebound foam” that springs back with each step. Also, that rebound lasts. I know this from a pair of Deckers X Lab slipper-shoes I tested more than a year ago (that my feet are in whenever I’m in my house); they’ve still got the push-back cush!
What most people don’t know about the average “soft” or “cushy” shoe is that such a shoe might feel good in the store, but will lead to sore feet out on the trail or pavement due to excessive forefoot flexion. That’s why the Deckers X Lab X-Scape Mid shoes have special stability features, such as a flared sole at the heel for smooth ride, a padded tongue and ankle area to hold my foot in place, and most important, a rocker sole. This type of sole allows a natural foot movement, and the shoe rolls heal to toe, without the excessive forefoot flexing, which, in turn, means my feet don’t get sore or tired. Brilliant. By design.
