Cotopaxi Debajo Seamless Baselayer Crew

All-purpose base layer made of recycled nylon.

Durable, Dry

I seem to have two speeds when I’m outdoors: not moving at all or clipping along at a brisk pace. Cotopaxi’s Debajo Seamless Baselayer Crew has me covered for both types of outings.

One of my favorite stationary winter activities is fishing for squid at night. I like to be out there for a few hours, even then the breeze off of the sea makes the temperatures dip below freezing. I stay warm when I wear the Cotopaxi Debajo Seamless Baselayer Crew underneath a merino hoodie and an insulated rain parka

The Cotopaxi Debajo Seamless Baselayer Crew is a substantial garment, yet the fabric feels thin between my fingers. I thought the crew top felt comfortable against my skin, and I like that it’s more durable than my wool layers. The body of the shirt is seamless, with flat-locked seams in the shoulders. I like the crew style because it’s versatile; I can add a neck gaiter if I need more warmth.

For more active pursuits, such as hiking and power walking, I wear the Cotopaxi Debajo Seamless Baselayer Crew under a thin insulated jacket or under a vest and rain jacket. I’ve been impressed with how well the top breathes. I heat up very fast when I exercise, so it’s significant to me that I can stay comfortable in this top. I’m always amazed when I get back to my car and the top is still dry. Even when I overdress I have found that the Cotopaxi Debajo Seamless Baselayer Crew breathes well.

Thanks to the Polygiene® anti-odor finish, I can wear the top for exercise and still meet up with a friend for tea without stinking. I try to do every little thing I can to live lighter on the planet, so having a smell-proof top means fewer washings.

I tested a men’s top since I’m very tall. I found a good fit and liked having extra length in the sleeves and torso. Both the sleeves and bottom of the top have wide ribbing, which is attractive but I’m not a fan of it along the hem since I think it’s easier to tuck in tops that don’t have ribbing.

Bottom Line

I really like this high-performing versatile top for all of my winter activities because it’s warm, highly breathable, and quick-drying.
