Buff Merino Midweight Hat

Most of the time I can get away with wearing an ultra-thin merino hat or even a cotton beanie-style hat. When temperatures drop down to freezing, or if I have to sit through a soccer game on a chilly, drizzly day, I wear my BUFF Merino Midweight Hat.

Warm and Versatile

Made out of 100% merino wool, this versatile hat is warm enough to wear while  in freezing temperatures and still thin enough to wear under a helmet while bike commuting in windy, 30-40 degree F temperatures.

The BUFF Merino Midweight Hat is close to perfect for me because it’s deep enough that I can pull it down over my ears, it has a nice 2″ wide band around the bottom, and it has a nice, snug fit. It’s also very simple, and the logo is very subtle, so I can wear it around town, too, and not look like a jock.

What I love about wool is that I can sweat up a storm when I’m exercising and even if the hat gets drenched in my sweat I stay dry. Better, even after repeated wearings, merino wool naturally resists odors. I tend to heat up very fast when I exercise, so I also appreciate that wool wicks and breathes so my head never gets too hot.

Perfect for Travel

The BUFF Merino Midweight Hat is my “go to” travel hat because it’s light enough to keep in a jacket pocket and it’s just the right amount of warmth for temperatures from about 50 degrees F down to a bit below freezing. It protects my ears from the cold wind when I’m by the sea. It keeps me warm on those rotten days when it was supposed to be sunny but instead the temperature drops. It’s all I need for hiking or exercising in cold weather.
