The Athleta Women’s Epitomize Top is my new favorite technical-top-in-disguise. Its textured pattern, fit, and feel reminds me of a soft, clingy, cable-knit cashmere sweater, but it performs like a techy base layer or workout top.
I’ve been sporting the Athleta Women’s Epitomize Top for a slate of activities this winter, including: skiing, yoga, and traveling. Thank goodness it’s “unstinkable,” so I can wear it as much as my heart desires between washes. I got in three days of skiing, two yoga classes, and two days of traveling before I finally broke down and washed it. (The Athleta Women’s Epitomize Top is made out of a soft Nylon/Polyester/Spandex blend and treated with Polygiene so it resists odors.)
On single-digit and twenty-degree days alike, skiing at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, I’ve loved how comfortable, soft ,and airy the Athleta Women’s Epitomize Top is against my skin. I’ve also appreciated how it transitions to apres activities in a totally unique (and feminine!) style. It works great as a base layer because it breaths and is wonderfully seamless and tagless.
The Athleta Women’s Epitomize Top was perfect as a cover-up layer on below-zero days when I rallied to get to the yoga studio with a deep chill in my bones. Until I could build my own heat partway through class, the Athleta Women’s Epitomize Top kept me cozy and stayed in place without shifting because of its secure knit at the waistline and motion-friendly, raglan sleeves. I liked having the longer, almost tunic length for wearing over yoga tights on the way to and from class.
At first glance, this top didn’t even look like a workout top so I packed it for a long weekend trip to Montreal. It was suitable attire for brunch at a neighborhood café, then kept me warm as a base layer while ice skating at an outdoors park. Tres bien!
The Athleta Women’s Epitomize Top is available for women in Light Grey Heather in sizes XS-XL I sized up a whole size from my usual Small to a Medium to get the perfect fit. Its longer length makes this top suitable for tall ladies and allows for a good amount of modesty for shorter ladies. Unlike cashmere, it’s happily machine washable and dry-able.
Bottom Line: The epitome of feminine, classic style in a tunic-length base layer top.
