Ahnu Women’s Tullia Flats

Equally at home in cities and mountain towns, work and play, the Ahnu Women’s Tullia Flats are fleet-footed, feminine, and supportive, a winning and sometimes elusive combination.

Ahnu Women’s Tullia Flats were a favorite this summer and fall for travel. The EVA midsoles provided solid yet cushiony arch support, which made walking around for miles on concrete in NYC and Montreal this fall that much more pleasant. The microfiber suede liner, treated with an antimicrobial agent to fight odor, was soft under foot and prevented my feet from sliding around when my feet got sweaty in the East Coast humidity (and back home in Jackson, WY, when I got caught in a downpour at an outdoor concert and had to tromp through some muddy puddles). The liner also helped keep the Tullias relatively stink-free, even after several months of sockless wear.

Comparing them to my sister’s Birkenstock sandals, I liked how the Ahnu Women’s Tullia Flats were supportive without looking clunky or orthopedic. Plus, they actually made my feet look smaller, thanks to their feminine, yoga and ballet-inspired aesthetic. They are very lightweight on the feet (under 6 oz.), too. My sister claimed that Birkenstocks were back in style, but when we saw a pair of Ahnu flats while out shopping, she picked up a pair and wore them the very next day while we perused veggies, fruits, cheeses, and other culinary delights at Montreal’s Jean Talon Market.

The Ahnu Women’s Tullia Flats’ closed toe design, interesting strap pattern, and quality nubuck upper (available in several appealing colors) make for a versatile spring/summer/fall shoe. I’ve the flats with skirts, dresses, shorts, capris, and jeans, as well as to yoga class, on weekend road trips, and to a work conference in Sacramento where the outside temps were in the 90s and the air-conditioned conference center was frigid. They are easy to slide on and off because the heel cup has some elasticity and give (although with my narrow ankles, the adjustable strap was maxed out on tightness). I also found that the heel cup on one side took a few days to break in, but that could of course be due to my own anatomy.

The Ahnu Women’s Tullia Flats are available in Porter, Black, and Eggplant in sizes 5 through 11. I had to go down a half size from what I typically wear in Ahnu trail shoes.

Bottom Line: It’s easy to walk on cloud nine in these versatile, adorable, comfortable flats.
