Rossignol Women’s & Men’s Covariant Rain Jacket

I’m always looking for comfortable rain jackets that I can wear in the city and on the trail. Rossignol’s Women’s Covariant Rain Jacket perfectly fits the bill.

Eco and Effective

Made out of a lightweight, DWR coated recycled polyester material, this longer-length parka style jacket is ideal in a variety of temperatures. It’s warm enough over a cotton shirt on chilly, drizzly days in the 50s and 60s. On cold, windy nights fishing on the pier, the Covariant Jacket cuts the wind and keeps me dry and warm. It has performed well on many rainy walks.

Soft and Stylish

I’m tall, so I appreciate the Covariant Rain Jacket’s long length. I also like the soft, matte material. Unlike many of my old rain jackets, this one doesn’t make crinkle noises…or any noise at all. I like the minimalist design. The large zippered side pockets are protected under a flap of material, and the hood adjust pulls are very subtle. The jacket has a nice chunky zipper. It never gets stuck. If I want, I can cinch the back of the jacket with a pull inside the jacket. The cuffs on the sleeves give the jacket a more stylish feel than a typical rain jacket.

Breathable and Packable

The jacket is fairly breathable, although it’s more wind- and waterproof than it is breathable. I appreciate the huge side pockets. I can cram so many things into them: gloves, my inhaler, a small notebook, my key lanyard, and my phone. As an added bonus, this lightweight jacket packs neatly into one of its pockets for easy packing whether traveling or just placing into my daypack when I misjudge the weather and wear too many layers.

The Covariant Jacket is available in black and in blue, in women’s sizes 2XS-XL and in men’s sizes XS-2XL. I found a perfect fit in my usual size.

Bottom Line

A lightweight, stylish rain jacket that’s ideal for travel, trail, and town.
