Merrell Men’s Hut Moc 2 Slipper

I’m not usually a slip-on shoe fan, and I don’t often wear slippers, but there’s a lot to love about Merrell’s Men’s Hut Moc 2 Slipper. 

For starters, this slipper (or is it a shoe?) is fun to wear because the bright, rich colors are a welcome change from my usual black and grey footwear collection. There’s a wide contrast colored nylon band around the bottom of the upper that gives the slipper a sporty look. I really like the look and feel of the plush fleece uppers, and I appreciate that the upper is raised around the back of the slipper to give me full coverage and more stability while walking (the Merrell Men’s Hut Moc 2 Slipper fits well and doesn’t slide around when I walk). Finally, the fuzzy fleece is so soft and cozy on my feet that I feel like I’m wearing a little fleece jacket on each foot. 

Made out of a fleece upper and a lightweight, lightly treaded sole, the Merrell Men’s Hut Moc 2 Slipper is easy to pack since it doesn’t add weight to my gear bag (less than six ounces). It’s also quite functional for my primary use as my post-workout shoe for open water swimming during winter months. When transitioning from wet to dry gear after swimming in 45 degree F water, speed is critical. As soon as I yank off my wet neoprene socks I shove my feet into the Merrell Hut Moc 2 Slippers. The fleece lining feels soft on my skin and gives my feet the cozy warm they need while I rinse my wetsuit and pack all my gear into my bag

The Merrell Men’s Hut Moc 2 Slipper also provides sure footing around the wet concrete surrounding the outdoor shower area at the lake and along the wet cement pathways and damp grass I have to traverse to reach my car after my swims. It rains several times a week where I live, so having a slip-on shoe that doesn’t easily slip off my feet helps me feel safe walking on wet pavement, driving home from the lake, and shuffling through the grocery store on my inevitable pit-stops on the way home. 

In addition to its functional creds, the Merrell Men’s Hut Moc 2 Slipper strives to be sustainable. The upper and lining are made from 100% recycled materials, and the EVA midsole contains 30% recycled content. The soles contain BLOOM®, a high-performing foam derived from algae (read more about BLOOM® here).
