Find YOUR Peak with Backpacker and Big City Mountaineers
National Summit Day on the first Saturday of August each year (this year, it’s Sat. August 7). The event is about celebrating outdoor spaces, encouraging folks to get outdoors (up a mountain or down the street), and help create greater access to the outdoors for all.

What: When it comes to outdoor adventure, access is key. But the components of access—knowing where to go, having the gear and the knowledge you need, and feeling safe and accepted in the outdoors—aren’t available to everyone. BCM aims to break down barriers to outdoor access by providing free, fully outfitted, and professionally led backcountry trips for youth from disinvested communities.
We are reaching out to you because we’d like to invite you to help us spread the word about National Summit Day and our mission to increase access to outdoor experiences. To celebrate and expand access to the outdoors, BACKPACKER has joined forces with Big City Mountaineers to present the Fourth Annual National Summit Day. Your contribution to Big City Mountaineers will break down barriers to outdoor access by providing free, fully outfitted, and professionally led backcountry trips for youth from disinvested communities.
