VIVOBAREFOOT Primus Trail Shoe

I’m not a barefoot shoe fan, but that’s only because I have old sports injuries that require me to wear heavy shoes and custom orthotics. Still, I had to try VIVOBAREFOOT’s Primus Trail Shoe. It just looked too cool!

Designed for off-trial use, his lightweight, ultra flexible, form-fitting show has a highly breathable mesh upper and an impressively lugged and grippy sole.  What I most like about the sole are the multi-directional lugs that give me firm footing in wet, slippery conditions. I’m sure I don’t get the same “sensory feedback” that true barefoot users will find since I wear a full-length orthotic, but still find the soles very responsive and durable.

Thanks to my injuries I don’t hike in such lightweight shoes, but I am in wet weather often, and appreciate the grip I get with the VIVOBAREFOOT Primus Trail Shoe’s sole. The snug fit is also nice; the shoe feels like it conforms to my foot. Balance is always a challenge for me, so I like being able to have close contact with the ground and a sole that prevents me from sliding around. The snug fit is also nice; the shoe feels like it conforms to my foot. I don’t wear socks with this shoe and have not had issues with blisters.

I’ve been wearing this as an every day shoe because it’s so comfortable and helps me stay sure-footed. I also think it looks quite stylish and sporty, and it’s ideal with shorts, pants, and skirts. Perfect for summer days.

The VIVOBAREFOOT Primus Trail Shoe, available in men’s and women’s styles, comes in black and in red. The women’s model is also available in pink. Men’s sizes: 7.5-15. Women’s sizes: 5-11.

Bottom Line: Ideal show for urban or off-trail use for people who like the nimble feeling of barefoot-style footwear.
