Jeans-style stretchy travel pant.
Ready for Action
I was looking for a casual pant that would work well for travel and for outdoor activities. A pant that would keep me comfortable during long plane rides, allow freedom of movement during long walks and short hikes, and breathe well during moderate activity. The Basalt Adventure Pant by Royal Robbins fit the bill perfectly.
This all-purpose, cotton blend (66% cotton, 29% polyester, 5% elastane) pant looks like a typical pair of straight-legged jeans, with two generous mesh-lined front pockets and two rear pockets, but acts more like an athletic pant. The soft material is seriously stretchy, allowing me to move around with ease. It also does a decent job of breathing, which I discovered on a hour-long hike on a 60 degree F day.
Consistent Sizing
The Basalt Adventure Pant fit me perfectly, and I appreciate the relatively long length, 32”. Most women’s pants are too short for me, but the length of this pant works well. I like the wide belt loops mostly becasue they’re different from the typical style. The rise on this pant is somewhere between mid- and high-. I am an avowed low-rise gal, so I take advantage of the stretchiness and fold the waistband over. For women who like a higher rise pant, I’d recommend a belt. I found the sizing very consistent, and this pant is longer than most of the other Royal Robbins styles.
Bottom Line
I don’t have the time to change my clothes between activities, especially when I’m traveling. The Basalt Adventure Pant is a great option for me when I need comfort, movability, and breathability in a pant.
