Available in men’s and women’s styles, Stio’s versatile Alpin Lightweight Merino Tee SS is ideal for hiking, travel, and any other activity where you want to have a breathable, easy-to-care-for top. 

Made out of a lightweight blend of 42.5% Merino Wool, 42.5% TENCEL™, 10% Nylon, and 5% Spandex, this soft short-sleeved tee has the benefits of wool (breathable, odor resistant), plus added durability from the TENCEL™ fibers. I think the TENCEL™ also gives the top some lasting shape. Merino tees can get fairly stretched out and shapeless after a lot of wear.

I would almost call the Alpin Lightweight Merino Tee SS a medium weight tee because I have other similar tops that feel much thinner, but it’s not a big issue since wool has excellent thermoregulating properties. I feel like this weight is ideal year-round, and I will be wearing it under a flannel in the fall. 

I have worn the Alpin tee to parties, for long evening walks, on urban hikes, and for day trips around Seattle. It’s comfortable, and no matter how much I sweat, the top does’t smell. I can wear it a few times before I need to wash it. The top is machine washable, and it dries on the line faster than my cotton tees. If I can pack lighter, I can focus my energy on enjoying my trips rather than on hauling lots of gear around.

I was drawn to the Alpin Lightweight Merino Tee SS by the striped fabric. I have boxes of merino tops, but not many made out of striped material. It’s nice to have some variety in my wardrobe. Since I’m 6’ tall, I tested the men’s Alpin Lightweight Merino Tee SS to get extra length through the torso (I wanted a shirt I could tuck into my pants in cold weather), but I kind of wish I’d tested the women’s tee because I like the wider neckline and curved hems over the boxy fit of a men’s tee.

In my experience, Stio’s clothes are always well-made, durable, and high-performing, and the Alpin Lightweight Merino Tee SS carries that banner well. It shines as travel top since I can wear it for multiple activities and have it dry in time for dinner.
