Knog Blinder 600 Lumen Front Light

Versatile, power beam for biking and more

While I’ve been in Sweden the past six weeks I’ve mostly been riding a bike for transportation. It’s fairly flat, and nothing is too far away, so I’ve really enjoyed it. At least three or four times a week I end up going to the grocery store at night, and that’s when I use my Knog Blinder 600 Lumen Front Light.

I like this handy light because it’s very easy to attach it to (and remove it from) my handlebars. The rubber-like strap, made out of medical grade silicone, is adjustable, so I can get a perfect, tight fit around the bar. Then I adjust it so I get it into a position that illuminates a pathway for me and lights up the space 10 or 20 feet in front of me, too. (I plan on using the Knog Blinder 600 Lumen Front Light on my walker/rollator this winter when I’m back home.) When I lock up by bike and go into the store I can quickly remove the light and stash it in my pocket (it only weights just over five ounces).

The Knog Blinder 600 Lumen Front Light is solidly built with an aluminum case, silicone buttons and charge cover, and four LED lights (two wide beam, two narrow beam). It has a rechargeable lithium ion battery that can hold a charge on its highest beam for two hours, much longer when using beam options that require less battery power. I appreciate that the Knog Blinder 600 Lumen Front Light has three indicator lights, green, red, and yellow, to let me know how much power I have left and when I need to recharge.

I really appreciate that I don’t need to worry about buying batteries anymore. I am slowly replacing all of my battery-powered lights and gadgets to rechargeable devices because it’s better for the planet, and less work and expense for me.

The Blinder is waterproof (IP67 rating), which is helpful since I live in a rainy climate, and weights just over five ounces. It has six lighting modes, including long beams, extra bright light, low light, and flashing. I use the solid beams for riding, and will use the flashing modes when I’m walking at night and need to make myself more visible.

Bottom Line

I love the Blinder’s compact design and portability. This light throws a bright, big light for night riding, and it also has tiny windows on both sides of the light to increase side visibility. It’s quite easy to attach the light to is mount and it’s also very simple to operate.

This is an ideal front light for commuting, night riding, and all sorts of uses. Because it’s pocket-sized, I grab it when I go for walks in the evening, and I stash it on a pocket on weekend trips because I never know when I might need a compact flashlight. (Read review of Blinder-150 Back Light.)
