I’m not sure why the straws need silicone tips. I guess they don’t get hot or cold, so that could be important for some users. I’ve also read that some people prefer a softer mouthpiece or don’t like the “taste” of metal. (I’ve been using stainless steel water bottles, mugs, and tumblers for years, so I don’t notice a “taste.”) At any rate, I don’t use the silicone tips because I don’t need another item to clean.
Great for Smoothies
I love using my EcoVessel stainless steel straws. At 9″ tall, they are the perfect size for my stainless steel tea travel cup and my large smoothie glass. I use them most often for smoothies. So much easier to sip them through a straw than drink out of a glass and get smoothie all over my upper lip!
Cleaning Brush Included
Here’s the thing about using reusable straws for smoothies: they get gunky. I’m not the best at cleaning up after myself, so I have to remind myself to rinse the straws right after use, then use the cleaning brush to remove any gunk. I’m glad the straws come with a cleaning brush. Without it I’d never keep my straws clean.
