Fun and Functional
My feet get cold easily so I am always looking for warm footwear. The Deckers X Lab MAX 40 boot has me covered. With thick sheepskin lining, a durable suede/nylon upper, and secure lacing, my feet feel warm and safe.
I like this boot’s chunky style—a modern take on a hybrid work boot/hiking boot. The Deckers X Lab MAX 40 boot comes in an ankle-high style and a taller style. I tested the taller style, which comes in black. When it’s really cold, I appreciate have more coverage.
I have Frodo-like feet, so I really appreciated the wide cut of the Deckers X Lab MAX 40 boot. It has a removable insole, which is handy for me since I wear a full-size orthotic in all my footwear. There is plenty of space in this boot, so I can wear thick socks and never feel pinched. (I think folks with narrow feet will find this boot too wide.) I almost felt like the boot was a bit baggy, but it could be that I’m used to wearing high-top shoes and ankle-hugging hiking boots.
Soft and Supportive
The Deckers X Lab MAX 40 boot has a thick, cushy midsole that makes me feel like I’m walking on clouds. I’ve never worn shoe or boots with such a bouncy midsole, yet the boot is still very stable thanks to the extra-wide footprint. The outer Vibram sole has some serious treads that provide great traction on wet and snowy surfaces.
I like the way the lacing system on this boot is designed, with a combination of eyelets, rings, and hooks, just like a hiking boot. The combination helps me customize the fit and get my feet securely laced inside.
The Deckers X Lab MAX 40 boot is lined with thick sheepskin shearling that provides incredible warmth. My favorite winter activity is squid fishing, which happens at night. It can be very cold on the pier, especially when it’s windy. I’ll admit that these boots are a bit fancy for the pier, but I enjoy dressing up a bit for my nights out. I can easily fish for two hours, and my feet stay toasty warm.

I am always surprised by what Deckers X Lab creates: fun, stylish shoes that are lightweight but also very stable. I always get compliments when I wear the Deckers X Lab MAX 40 boot. It looks great with jeans, leggings, and my track pants.
