Badger Balm Bug-Repellent Balm Stick and Bug Spray

All natural bug protection

Bug Off

I’m living my summer backwards this year. It’s almost September, and I’m just starting to use mosquito repellent. That’s because I’m in Sweden, and there are tons of mosquitos where I’m staying.

During the day I haven’t had any problems, but at night, all the mosquitos in the village seem to gather in my bedroom. They are huge. Before I go to sleep I run around the room, swatting at them with a rolled up tourist brochure, but I never get them all.

The other night I remembered that I had a Badger Balm Anti-Bug Balm stick, so I left it on my nightstand. Just as I was drifting off, I heard an annoying buzz and grabbed for the stick. I rubbed it all over my arms and neck, then fell asleep.

The next day I did not have a single bite. I couldn’t believe it. That night, I went to bed again, forgetting about the mosquitos until I heard one buzzing around my head. I grabbed the Badger Balm Anti-Bug Balm and applied it to my skin. Again, the next morning I was bite-free.

I’ve been repeating this routine every night now for a few weeks, and I’ve added Badger Balm Bug Spray, which comes in a recyclable aluminum bottle, to the mix. I love this easy-to-apply natural formula. I can spray it on my arms, legs, feet, and neck, and be protected in a quick minute. The spray produces a very fine mist, so I never feel like my skin is oily or sticky. I don’t even notice it. Also, both items are TSA-friendly and fit easily into my hip pack or even into a pocket.

Yea!

All Natural

I’m chemically sensitive, allergic to everything, and have easily-triggered asthma, so I appreciate that Badger Balm uses high-quality natural, and whenever possible, organic, ingredients, rather than chemicals and synthetic fragrances. The bug balm formulation is 95% organic, and contains Citronella oil, Caster oil, Cedarwood oil, Lemongrass oil, Rosemary oil, and Geranium oil, along with olive oil and beeswax. The spray has the same active natural oils.

It has a pleasing, natural scent that comes from the oils and is not at all strong. I didn’t have any issues with it on my skin or with breathing. I was also able to fall asleep easily; the oils were not stimulating. Badger Balm describes both formulas as effective for around three hours.

Bottom Line

There are few things more irritating than mosquitos, so I am very happy to have the Badger Balm Anti-Bug Balm Stick and Bug Spray with me. Like the Badger Balm sun protection products I have tested, this stick feels good on my skin, and it’s never greasy or oily. The stick applicator and the spray bottle makes either option easy to apply. I love that it works, too, because I don’t want to put chemicals on my skin.

Also, I am so happy to have found a company committed to producing health, natural products that are effective for me. Read more about Badger Balm’s sustainable practices here
