Tsubo Women's Boleyn Shoe : A Hipster Twist on the Classic Peep-Toe

Tsubo's Women's Boleyn shoes are in my closet right now, waiting for their next public appearance. I'm not sure if that will be for my role as a university professional or for cocktail hour with the girls, but either way they'll be there for me like a great supporting actress, complementing my outfit and garnering their own attention.
The Tsubo Boleyn shoes work well with so many different roles and outfits because they are understated, modern, and comfortable. They have been clearly designed with care, something that I noticed from the first moment I pulled them on and strutted around my living room.
The Tsubo Boleyn shoe has svelte lines that display my foot in style. A single crisscross strap wraps diagonally across the top of my foot, and a small peep hole at the tip of the shoe is just big enough to reveal some toenail polish. The shoe has a sling back heel with an adjustable Velcro strap.
I discovered (by reading the diagram inside the box) that there are six elements between the inner lining and the rubber soles at work to support me while I walk, pace, stroll, and sometimes dash, around town, although you'd never know it because of the sleek design of the shoe.
The designers at Tsubo have integrated stability, durability, cushion, and breathability into the Boleyn shoe. I inadvertently put all of these elements to the test by running in my Boleyn shoes the other day. I was late for a concert in which I was performing, and made a mad dash from the parking lot to the concert hall. I grabbed my violin, ran past the audience without missing a step, and slid into my seat with enough time to catch my breath and warm up. Thanks to the rubber soles, I had great traction on that drizzly day. And the 2.5" heel was perfect with my formal dress.
Later that week, , I wore my Tsubo Boleyn shoes with skinny jeans and a cotton tunic top. Again, thye were perfect for the outfit and the occasion. Since then I've found reasons to wear my Boleyn shoes as much as possible -- with pants, jeggings, pencil-shaped skirts, and even with a vintage apron while cooking a romantic dinner.
The Tsubo Women's Boleyn shoe is available in Black and Burnt Ochre in sizes 5 to 11, including half sizes. I normally wear an 8.5 in dress shoes and a 9 in athletic shoes, and the 8.5s fit well.
Bottom Line: Lovely sleek lines and a hint of nonconformity. Their amazingly comfortable all-day fit can be your own little secret.--L.B. (April 2011)
