Timbuk2 Q Laptop Backpack

When selecting a laptop backpack, I need organization pockets, I want extra padding, and I prefer a bag with some style. Timbuk2's Q Backpack fits the bill on all accounts.

Made out of Timbuk2's lightest weight nylon, the Q pack has a slimmer profile than the clunky packs of my past. Timbuk2 also cuts weight by using thin nylon "grab" straps on top and on the side of the pack rather than padded handles. The padded backpack straps are also streamlined, and curved for a better fit. I use the Q pack most often for meetings, when I want to travel light and have quick access to my laptop and accessories once I arrive at my destination.

The pack features Timbuk2's "swing-around" side access pocket that allows me to take my computer out of the pack while it's still strapped to my back. The side-zippered pocket is padded on both sides, and has an tube-shaped padded flap on the bottom of the pocket on which my laptop rests. There's also a tough black material on the bottom of the pack; this comes in handy when traveling since I sometimes have to put my pack down on the wet ground.

I like the way this pack is organized because the pockets on the front of the pack are designed to distribute my load evenly. There's a large flap covering the front of the pack, which, when unzipped, reveals several organizational sleeves, as well as a flat zippered pocket. Because the flap can be folded over, it's easy to grab pens, my iPod, and other accessories. There's also a slim, flat pocket on the front of the pack that's big enough for my day planner.

On the bottom of the pack there's a stash pocket for my power cords. There's also a middle compartment with enough space for a few notebooks and a sweater. All of the zippers have rounded pull tabs so I can rapidly find the zippers and get into my pack.

I've really enjoyed using this pack. It's lightweight and I have enough room for the essentials, which is all I want for most outings.
