Terramar 100% Merino Wool Baselayer Bottom : Natural Comfort and Warmth
Here in the Rockies in Colorado, there can be quite a fluctuation in temperature. As saying goes, "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes." My Terramar 100% Merino Wool baselayer bottom has been a useful piece of apparel during this winter's weather roller coaster. I first tested Terramar's Merino Wool baselayer pants (and their Merino Wool Half-Zip Top) during a cross-country skiing outing on what started out as a warm, sunny day. I say "warm" because it was 35 degrees, and when I'm skiing hard near-freezing temps just don't feel cold. I knew that merino wool was effective at providing warmth, but where these pants really stood out was in regulating my body temperature. Despite my intensity, I didn't overheat because my Terramar bottoms breathed so well. In the past, when wearing other baselayers, I've hit the halfway mark and noticed an uncomfortable chafing around my waistband. So far, I haven't had this problem when skiing in my Terramar baselayers. (Both my Terramar Merino Wool bottoms and top have flatlocked seams, which adds to layering comfort and reduces the chance of friction!) Another bonus I've noticed with my Terramar Merino Wool baselayer bottom is: there's enough stretch in the fabric to allow for full range of motion, which is necessary for a long, unrestricted stride. There's almost nothing worse than going for a stride and feeling the tightness of my pants holding me back. The merino wool did a great job of quickly wicking away my sweat, which allowed me to stay warm even in rapidly-changing weather. When my workout was over and I was packing my things up to head home, I stayed pleasantly warm despite the fact that my pants were soaked with sweat. I got home and talked with my wife before taking a shower and she commented that I didn't smell as bad as I usually do after skiing. That's because merino wool is naturally odor-resistant and dries fairly quickly. Bonus points for Terramar!
