Smartwool Spectrum Zip Mock : All-Purpose Trail and Exercise Top

Made out of Smartwool's lightweight Versawear wool, the Spectrum top is perfect for hikes, as well as more intense workouts.

The super thin material does an excellent job of wicking away sweat and keeping me dry when I heat up. I've been wearing it on power walks under a rain shell, and alone on warmer, drier days. Because merino wool is naturally anti microbial, this top doesn't hold on to smells the way synthetic tops do. So I can wear it for days without washing it.

Thanks to stretchy side panels, the Spectrum allows total freedom of movement. I'm usually a size M, but tested a size L and was happy to have the extra length in the sleeves and torso.

I like the zip mock collar, which hugs my neck when fully zipped -- a nice feature when I'm out in the woods and the temps drop. For the same reason, I really appreciate the thumb loops. My hands always get too warm in gloves, so the thumb loops allow me to pull the sleeves around my hands. Nice.

One of our male testers, Tom, reports that his Lightweight Blocked Tee, also made out Versawear super fine merino, is ideal for gym workouts. The fabric does an excellent job of wicking sweat off of his skin. He also appreciates the flat-seam contructio--no chafing seams.
