Point 6 Hiking Socks : Not My Father's Wool Socks

I went in search of some fall color on a recent autumn weekend.  The weather and scenery were everything I expected at this time of year in the northwest cool, wet, and breathtakingly beautiful.

One of the reasons I had such a great day was that I was wearing a new pair of medium cushion, mini-crew merino wool socks from Point 6.

Merino wool is not the heavy, scratchy, bulky wool that past generations were familiar with.  It's a soft, fine-textured fiber from a specific kind of sheep that retains the warmth and durability of traditional wool but is much more pleasant when worn against the skin.

The Point 6 mini-crew style is the perfect height for my low-top boots.  I appreciated that they didn't migrate down over the course of several hours of walking, so I didn't have to stop for sock adjustments during my hike.  I found the cushion to be plush and cozy but not overly bulky. Because of their plushiness, I also love just wearing them around the house.

Point 6 makes men's and women's merino wool socks for a multitude of winter and summer activities, as well as for casual wear.

Note: I found that these socks were fitted more toward the large end of the stated size range.

(EDITOR'S note: We'll be adding more reviews of Point 6 socks throughout November.)

Bottom LIne: Great socks just make the day better no matter what I'm doing.--A.S. (Nov 09)
