Ten One Design's Particle Case and Pogo Sketch for iPad

In justifying buying an iPad, I promised myself I would use it for business purposes. I envisioned walking into meetings with customers, stylishly equipped with just my iPad instead of an untidy wad of papers stuffed into a clipboard.

This scenario didn’t pan out too well when I realized that it’s almost impossible to write legibly on an iPad with the tip of my finger. As my customers rattled off long lists of details I would later need to recall, I clumsily tried to keep up with each item while the pad of my finger jerked around the screen, trying desperately to form readable letters. When I looked at iPad later, my notes looked like a 3rd grader had drawn hieroglyphics across the screen. What I needed was Ten One Design’s Particle Case and Pogo Sketch for iPad, a rubbery, snug-fitting case and stylus pen.
The Particle Case is easy to place around my iPad (it fits around the edges), and just as easy to remove.  It’s designed to help me grip the iPad while in use and take notes with the stylus pen, so it doesn’t have a back or a screen protector.  With openings in all the right places, the iPad’s function keys are still accessible (i.e., the on/off button, the volume switch).  The case also has a small pen holder for the stylus, which has helped me keep both items in one place while in transit.

On the backside of the case there are four small bumps, one in each corner, that hold the iPad squarely on a table for writing. Since the back of the iPad is slightly curved, this case is ideal for giving it stability. Honestly, this is brilliant!  Before I used this case, I had tried to use the iPad on a table and it moved around every time I touched it.

The stylus pen that comes with this case works very well. The tip is soft, kind of like the pad of a finger, yet it glides smoothly over the screen (unlike a fingertip). I can use the pen for writing and in place of finger for everything I do such as, tapping on an app to open it, flipping the screen to view the next page, and even browsing the Internet. It’s especially handy when I come across a web site with small print that doesn’t enlarge and I want to click on a specific link that’s in a navigational list next to other links. The stylus pen is much more accurate than my finger and makes tapping the correct link much easier. The stylus pen works just as well on my iPhone! I have a protective anti-glare film on my iPhone screen and the stylus pen worked just as well as my fingertip even over the screen protector.

I think you could use this case even if you have a film-style screen protector on your iPad.  Since the case is snug-fitting, you can also place your iPad into a larger, padded sleeve without having to remove it.

The Particle Case and Pogo Sketch set come in three different colors: gray, blue and purple. Available for iPad and iPad2. Pogo Sketch works with iPad, iPhone, iTouch.

Bottom Line: The ideal portable office combo. No more lugging around notebooks and files. Now my work bag is lighter, more organized, and mutli-media.--N.S (June 2011)
