Mountain Hardwear Loess Tank : Sport Perfect

My beef with tank tops is that they generally fall into two categories: 1) Loose-fitting for casual wear, or 2) so supportive that they feel like sausage casings.

Mountain Hardwear's Loess Tank is a remarkable exception. It's perfect for sporty, high-voltage pursuits, but it's comfy enough for all-day wear. It even has cute style details that most tanks never strive for.

The neckline is darling, with sturdy, inch-wide straps that wrap around and cross in the back. Decorative seaming lends a little flair to the solid panel of color. The length is ideal; the hem hits right at the hip. It's a fantastic yoga top since its length lets me bend and twist without exposing too much flesh. The body-hugging fit also kept it from riding up during inverted poses.

The shelf bra proved supportive enough for gym workouts and short runs. Even when I wasn't working out in it, I loved the fabric's soft, plush feel. Made of organic cotton (91%) and elastane (9%), the Loess felt sumptuous--something I can't often say about other sporty tanks. (Click here to read about Mountain Hardwear's High Step Judo Pant, the perfect thing to wear with the Loess Tank.)

Available in women's sizes XS-XL and in a variety of colors.

Bottom Line : A tank that blends style, performance and comfort--K. B. (May '10)
