Merrell Durango Men's Shirt : Yippeeiyea!
I don't have a shortage of short-sleeved shirts to be honest, however the good ones are few and far between. After a season, some go out of style or simply don't hold up and become the "work shirt of choice" when painting or landscaping, soon to become rags in efforts to get as much use as possible out of them. Enter the Merrell Durango - what I've come to find as something that trumps my shirts of the past. From the construction, seam choice, pocket design, and top-notch fabric quality to the patterns, colors, finishing touches, and "more-than-one-season-style," I suggest some other manufacturers take notes... On the construction function, flat seams are much more comfortable and allow for a more dialed fit. It's roomy enough to let the warm Colorado air come through and keep me cool, but trim enough on my athletic frame not to look like I'm wearing a square of fabric with a chest pocket and collar. Also, if I'm going to wear a PFD or pack the flat seams won't dig into my sides or rub me the wrong way. The two front pockets, while functionally the same at holding my glasses or bottle caps, have different clsoures. One is zippered for security and the other has a sna-to-close flap. The Durango shirt ias made out of a fabric that's a blend of 55% modal and 45% polyester, which provides great moisture management, fast drying, and minimal stink after a couple of days use sans a good wash. As far as design goes, again, the fabric is choice for a no-wrinkle look and with the sun exposure here in Crested Butte, fading of the color from the UV hasn't proven an issue with this blend. It's durable, abrasion resistant, and washes like iron. Stylish folks will appreciate the pearlized snaps up the front - looks good and easy-on, (and easy-off...nuff said). The traditional hem style looks sharp hung out and casual. Bottom Line: At $59, Merrell's Durangos shirt is a good deal as well, balancing the traditional term "value" as something you don't get for cheap, but that will last and look good beyond what cheaper versions will.--T.W.
