Kelty Shrike Backpack : Get Organized and Go

It's impractical to get a new backpack specifically suited for every adventure so I just have a few packs of various configurations and sizes, and that suits me fine. The Kelty Shrike is the latest addition to my quiver of packs, and I've been finding myself reaching for it more and more the longer I have it.
My favorite thing about Kelty's Shrike backpack is the variety of pockets. There are mesh pockets on either side of the pack, a main compartment, a smaller compartment on the outside, and an auxiliary pocket on top of the pack where I stash things I want to be able to grab in a flash, like a first aid kit, bus transfer, plane ticket, phone, keys, wallet, flashlight. Organizational pouches and small sleeves on the inside of the outer compartment help me keep track of smaller items.
The other thing that increasingly makes the Kelty Shrike backpack my go to pack is the size. It holds towels, extra clothes, lunch, and all the miscellaneous supplies I need for me and my two kids to have an adventurous day at the beach, park, or woods.
The Kelty Shrike backpack is also big (and small) enough to be the single carry-on bag for my family of four to fly halfway across the country. With two kids in tow, the last thing my wife and I want is to be carting multiple carry-on bags through the airport and on and off the plane. On a recent trip the Kelty Shrike was plenty big for everything we needed to keep the kids entertained on the plane and still small enough to stow under the seat for easy, frequent access.
