Columbia Curve Appeal Ski Pant : Snow Pants That Fit Like Jeanas
I've been a skier for most of my life, so I've worn a number of ski pants over the years. This winter I decided to try something new: Columbia's Curve Appeal Ski pant. Designed to look and fit like a pair of jeans, these sassy ski pants are also waterproof, seam-sealed, and breathable. I like the low-rise waist; it's much more comfortable than so many ski pants I've worn that zip and Velcro up tight around my waist (well, maybe the holidays have something to do with the tight part). I can move a lot better without a bunch of material across my stomach. The belt loops and five-pocket styling give these pants their style, not to mention added functional benefits in fit and "storage." I also like the embroidered designs on each of the zippered back pockets, where I carry trail map and my lift receipt. A fuzzy faux fur completely lines the inside of the seat. I was tempted to go commando in these just to feel how soft it would be against my skin, but temperatures dictated long underwear. The interior lining fabric that extends down to the internal leg gaiters has a paisley and daisies pattern, a nod to the 1960s psychedelic look that’s a fun contrast to the solid black outer fabric. Without the shin guard fabric that usually lines the inner shin for downhill skiers, I’ve worn these pants cross-country skiing and snowshoeing instead. Maybe, just maybe, my 12-year-old niece will get me on a board on one of these weekends. At least I've got the cool-looking gear. Bottom Line: Fun, comfortable, and functional pants for most snow sports.--J.I. (Jan '06) Price: $120 Manufacturer's Site: www.columbia.com BUY ONLINE : curve appeal pant |
