Allrounder Ewen Shoe : All Around Quality and Comfort
I lived in the midwest for 26 years, so the past 19 years in the northwest have been a breeze weather wise. Still, it's nice to have waterproof footwear. It's also nice to have rugged shoes for day hikes and power walks. What I love about the Allrounder Ewen shoe is that it has the support, stability, and durability of a much heavier shoe. I like a fairly rigid sole--it allows me to stay out much longer before my feet become fatigued--but it's hard to find hiking shoes with that type of stability. With the Ewen shoe, Allrounder has managed to give me the firm sole I want without the stiffness. It also has a special super shock absorption system in the heels. The treaded sole provides great traction on trail and on wet pavement. I tested a pair of black Ewen shoes--really like the simple, low-profile design and mostly nubuck uppers. I really liked the nylon laces eyelets. I can cinch up the shoes as tight as I want and never feel a grommet digging into the top of my foot like I do with some other trail shoes I own. The gusseted tongue adds to the waterproofness of this lightweight but heavy duty shoe. I spent a lot of time walking in the rain this winter, and I always came home with dry feet. Bottom LIne: An excellent trail shoe that's super tough, top quality, and ideal for wet climates.--E.D. (Jan 10) BUY ONLINE : $179-198, click to shop Manufacturer's Site: www.allrounder.com |
