Ahnu Tamalpais II Trail Shoe: Run Like an Antelope

Men and women looking for a lightweight, breathable and versatile trail shoe may find Ahnu's Tamalpais II to be just the ticket. It's a hiking shoe, a trail runner, a cross-trainer, and perfect for a range of outdoor conditions and adventures.

I liked the attractive design, good support and flexibility, and especially appreciated that this shoe required virtually no break in period. Good thing because their first outing was a trip to Northern California for a weekend of hiking through the coastal redwoods. And they didn't disappoint. It was a great trip thanks in part to my happy feet!

One unique thing about these shoes is the QuiteLite lacing system that uses a webbing lace that wraps around the heel to lock feet in place. It's a sliding lace mechanism that takes a little practice, but once I got the hang of it, it was very easy. Just pull and go. No more fussing around or double-knot lacing required to keep my shoes snug throughout the day.

I found these shoes to be ideal for day hike treks over moderate terrain, light trail running, adventure travel, or just casual strolling around town. At just 12 oz., they are lightweight, and with the fast-drying nylon mesh material along the top and a moisture-wicking liner, my feet stay pretty comfortable most of the time.

Available in both men's and women's versions. Women's shoes come in two colors - coffee and garnet red - and sizes range from 6.0-11.0 in both full and half sizes.

Bottom LIne: A good shoe choice for a variety of outdoor adventures. They are comfortable, look good, and are ideal for everything from trail running through the redwoods to wandering around the city. C.E.W. (Aug. 09)
