Ahnu Sequoia Trail Shoe : Fast and Light

While I was probably not the best reviewer for these shoes because my preference is for a heavy, thicker soled trail shoe, I think people wanting a light trail hiking shoe will be quite happy with the Sequoia shoes.

Having said that, I did find them to be well-made, nice looking, comfortable, and fun to wear around town or on short hikes.

The Ahnu Sequoia style shoes are a good walking or general athletic shoe with a low profile Vibram sole. For most leisurely walks and easy trail hikes, I think the shoes provide adequate support for me and no-slip traction. The soles and midsoles are designed for good shock absorption, traction, arch support and they actually give my feet a feeling of cushiony comfort when I wear them.

One thing that I did really like about these shoes was their light weight and breathable material. I can't see the normal wearer having any problem with their feet overheating because the breathable mesh material will liberate and dissipate any heat that might otherwise build up with a less effective fabric.

The shoes also don't have the traditional eyelet type of lacing style that I've seen on so many trail shoes. Instead, their lacing system is tied in with a unique webbing construction to hold the shoe around the foot more effectively. It's a pretty cool system that just looks stylish rather than functional, and provides stability. A nice surprise for a unique type of shoe!
